The recent flooding in Auckland has had a significant impact on businesses across the region. Recognizing the need for emergency support, the government has announced a $5 million package of business support to help those businesses that have been significantly affected by the floods. The Auckland Business Chamber, in partnership with the Tāmaki Makaurau Business network, has quickly operationalized the Back to Work grants, which are designed to provide some relief to businesses and help them get back on their feet sooner and stronger.
The Back to Work grants are available to small businesses that have been impacted by the flooding in Auckland. There are three grant categories:
Up to $5000 for businesses that are red stickered, yellow stickered or not currently operating as a result of the flooding.
Up to $2000 for businesses that are operating but have suffered a loss in excess of $2000 as a result of the flooding.
$750 for business that are operating but have suffered a loss in excess of $750, but less than $2000 as a result of the flooding.
Eligibility for the Back to Work grants
To be eligible for the Back to Work grants, businesses must meet the following criteria:

Helping Auckland Businesses Recover
At Finex Chartered Accountants, we understand the financial challenges businesses face during difficult times. That’s why we encourage Auckland businesses affected by the recent floods to apply for the Back to Work grants. These grants will help you get back on your feet sooner and stronger, and provide some much-needed relief during this difficult time.
The Back to Work grants are not a substitute for insurance or compensation for all commercial losses a business has suffered from the recent flooding. However, they are designed to provide some relief to small businesses that have been impacted by the floods and help them get back to work as soon as possible. Auckland businesses are still recovering from the impact of Covid-19, and the recent flooding has been another blow in what has been a few very tough years.
