Baqir and the team have completely changed how we look at our rental portfolio. They explained the tax side in plain English, restructured our ownership before we bought again, and saved us far more than their fee. We finally feel like we know what's going on!

Switching accountants felt daunting but Finex handled the whole transfer. Everything was done for us and our first year end was the smoothest we've had. Fixed fees mean no nasty surprises either.
Proactive is the right word. They contact us before deadlines, flag tax we should plan for and are always happy to take a call when a decision comes up. Our previous accountant only appeared once a year.
We run a small building company and the cashflow projections have been a game changer. We now know what's coming three months out and can price jobs with confidence.
Genuine property specialists. They knew the bright-line and interest rules inside out and made sure we structured our second purchase properly from day one.
Clear advice, fast replies and no charge every time you pick up the phone. Joanna has been fantastic with our GST and payroll and it's simply not something I think about any more.

Frequently asked questions
A few of the things property investors and business owners ask us most often.
Still not sure? Get in touchDo you only work with property investors and property businesses?
No. Property is our specialism, but we also work with established New Zealand businesses across a wide range of industries. If you want proactive accounting, tax planning and advice rather than year-end compliance alone, we can help — whether or not property is part of the picture.
Why do I need a property tax specialist? Can’t my regular accountant handle my rental properties?
Many accountants can file a rental schedule, but property has its own rules — ownership structures, interest deductibility, the bright-line test, ring-fencing, chattels and depreciation, GST on developments and trading stock rules for traders and developers. Getting these wrong is expensive, and the cost usually only surfaces years later. We work with property every day, so we plan for these issues before they become problems.
I’m already working with an accountant. Is switching difficult?
It's straightforward and we handle it for you. Once you give us the go-ahead we write to your current accountant, request your records and history, and take care of the handover. Most clients spend very little time on the process, and there's no need for an awkward conversation on your side.
Will you help me reduce my tax?
Yes — legitimately and within the rules. We look at your structure, timing, entitlements, deductions and how your property and business interests fit together, so you don't pay more tax than you need to. What we won't do is put you at risk with IRD; the goal is a tax position that is both efficient and defensible.
Do I only hear from you when my accounts or tax return are due?
No. Proactive contact is the point of working with us. You'll hear from us through the year with tax reminders, planning conversations and updates that affect you, and you can pick up the phone or email whenever a question comes up — support is included, not billed by the minute.
How much do your accounting services cost?
We work on transparent fixed fees agreed up front, based on the entities you hold, the volume of transactions and the level of advice you want. You'll know exactly what you're paying before any work begins, and you won't receive surprise invoices for phone calls or emails.
My business is growing, but I’m not sure whether I need more than a traditional accountant yet. How do I know?
The usual signs are that you're making bigger decisions with less information than you'd like — hiring, borrowing, buying, or expanding without a clear view of cashflow and tax impact. If your accounts arrive months after year end and only tell you what already happened, it's time for something more forward-looking. A short conversation is usually enough to tell.
What happens after I make an enquiry?
We'll be in touch to arrange a no-obligation call to understand your property, business and goals. From there we'll recommend the support that makes sense, confirm a fixed fee in writing, and if you're happy to proceed we handle onboarding and the transfer from your previous accountant.
