Head of Accounting & Tax
Joanna brings 20+ years of accounting experience to her role as Head of Accounting & Tax at Finex. A CPA, she leads the technical work behind clients’ accounts, tax returns and ongoing compliance.
Her strength is turning careful, accurate accounting into advice clients can use. Joanna helps business owners understand their numbers, stay on top of their obligations and get clear answers when financial decisions need to be made.
Client Accounting Manager
Fate brings 20 years of experience to the team, and helps keep the day-to-day financial work that clients rely on moving smoothly. Her work spans bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, payroll and Xero, as well as support with GST and financial reports. Having previously worked in executive support at Finex, Fate understands both the details behind the numbers and the importance of following through for clients. She brings a careful, approachable manner to the work that keeps financial records reliable and deadlines on track.
Head of Operations
Rainelle brings 25+ years of financial services experience to Finex, including experience as a Branch Operations Manager leading four supervisors and more than 25 staff. As Head of Operations, she works closely with Baqir to coordinate the people, communications and processes behind the firm’s client service. Her background brings structure and follow-through to the work happening behind the scenes, helping the team stay organised and responsive as Finex grows.
Strategic Advisor
Khadija is a civil engineer, Finex shareholder and strategic advisor to Baqir. Her engineering background brings a practical, analytical perspective to the decisions shaping the firm. As a co-owner, she works with Baqir on Finex’s long-term direction, helping him consider opportunities, challenges and what the business needs as it grows.

Chartered Accountant
Syed brings more than 10 years of accounting and advisory experience, including work with organisations such as Fonterra and Hyundai. He holds a BSc in Accounting and Finance and a Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Accounting from AUT. At Finex, Syed supports business owners with financial modelling, due diligence, tax planning, Immigration New Zealand employer accreditation and IRD matters. He turns complex information into clear, practical advice that helps clients make important decisions with confidence.
Chartered Accountant
Syed is a Chartered Accountant with 8+ of experience in financial accounting, reporting and international tax compliance. He has supported businesses across New Zealand, the UK, India and the Gulf region. At Finex, Syed helps keep clients’ financial records accurate and their reporting on track. His careful approach gives business owners reliable numbers they can use to understand their position and make informed decisions.
Marketing & Client Communications
Dishant brings 8+ years of marketing experience, including two years working with accounting and financial services firms. He holds a Master’s degree in Marketing. At Finex, Dishant helps turn the team’s accounting and tax knowledge into clear, useful content for business owners. His work helps growing businesses find answers to common questions and understand when specialist advice could help them take their next step.
Senior Accountant
Ataul holds a Master of Commerce and has more than two years of experience in bookkeeping, reconciliations, Xero and GST compliance. At Finex, he helps keep clients’ financial records accurate and up to date. His careful work supports timely GST returns and gives business owners numbers they can rely on when making decisions.
Intern
Mujtaba is a student at Waitakere College and a regular intern at Finex. He enjoys spending time with the team and learning how the business works. Outside the office, he loves cricket and is always happy to talk about the game.
